Martin made his
debut in the world of traditional music at the age of 18 years as
a member of the dance troupe Mackinaw, where he took on the many
roles of dancer, musician, choreographer, instructor and artistic
adjoint. In 2000 he began playing with les Jouals verts, accompanists
to the dance troupe, as both a singer and accordionist. Over the
years, he has developed his own style of choreography and several
of his shows have been presented in the United States and Europe.
His unique talents as a choreographer have allowed him to work with
numerous amateur and professional dance companies, notably Le Mondial
des Cultures (Drummondville), Bringham Young University (Utah),
La Girandole (Edmonton), Les Bons diables (Laval), Manigance (Sainte-Marie-de-Beauce),
Les Pieds Légers (Laval), Rimparremmi (Rovaniemi), Les Sortilèges
danses du Monde (Montréal) and of course Mackinaw.
In 2007 Martin joined Les Langues Fourchues
as their accordionist, the latest in his endeavours to promulgate
the music of Quebec.
